Track: Zeltweg 1971 Mod: 1969 FPS: 60 Number of racers: 9
Anders Ostlund won Zeltweg 1971 race of GroundMOD season | Oct 20, 2011
Starting from position 1 on the grid, Anders Ostlund's Brabham BT26A crossed the line ahead of John Manvell's Ferrari 312 (69) to take the win. Attilio Artiglietti rounded out the top three in a McLaren M7, while fastest race lap was set by Anders Ostlund also.

Does someone has a good setup for Zeltweg 1969x??? Matra, McLaren or Brabham maybe??
Last 5 topics intrudes a little
What lap times do you run? I just finished a 10 laps training, and finished with 1:41.99 in a very unhandy McLaren. (GLPRank is still missing 69X support... argh)
Zeltweg 71 was used in 69S6 and 7, and then I drove the Ferrari both times. So I've got one for the 69 Fezza.
69x has a little bit less grip so maybe it has to be adjusted a little.
Thanks. I hope to go down to low 41 laps.
I've adjusted my wing settings and now the car matches my taste. I also learned T1 again (it's so tricky after the 67s race).
Thanks Jani and Anders, very helpful reference points, I myself am a bit lost with no laps to compare to. I have just downloaded the thing (16 mins!), but didnt plan any practice before later in the week, will let you know my pbs when I have something. In the meantime I found a setup from a very quick guy, it's the Mclaren from the old 69 mod, no idea how it handles but it will certainly be alien inclined. Dont know how to upload anything on here, but very happy to share if needed by anyone. Cheers
69 mod setups work fine on the 69x mod cars, maybe that they will need some more wing. The new cars are without setups so these have to be made from scratch.
Thx Anders, I think the most confusing thing in the 69s is always the amount of wing you are supposed to put on, I read somewhere that going high pays more for the laptimes than top speed, would be interesting to know what you think about it since you seem to have understood how to make these ones pretty quick indeed, looking at your laptimes!
Amount of wing depends a lot on the track, for example Spa and Monza are tracks where there is a minimum of wing, 4.00-4.50 ( less will give a lift effect) while Mosport is a track where you use maximum amount of wing. I would say that your amount of wing on Zeltweg is a little bit low, if I remember it right, I'll check it monday afternoon. What you could do is to put 4-5% more wing and compare laps in GPLRA. You could gain more in the twisty parts then
Thank you very much Anders, very much appreciated advice. For the records, I did some more laps, tried Jani's setup with much more wing (9/10 if I remember well), and I found it spot on, much better than the one I had! I did a low 40.2 with the M7 and I think with a little practice on wednesday I will be easy in the 39s. Cheers guys, thank you for your help.
Made a couple of stints after my breakfast at 12 o'clock, five hours of sleep after my nightshift.
Forgot to mention that I'm in the Brabham.
Ouch, that sounds like its going to be a race for second then! Will try to krank up my wings next time, to see if it does any good to my times. Thanks for sharing Anders, see you guys on Thursday.
Update, 1:38.14, no tweakin' on the setup yet.
Too bad I can't practice till Wednesday...
No further improvement as I spent my last night with work and with my kid playing Carcassonne :D
My pb is 39.2 atm, but looking at the intermediates I should be able to get down to the mid to high 38s. I am doing this with your setup Jani, only with much more wing:12.25/13.75.
On a different note, I still experience fps drops at this track, I tried downsizing all my graphic settings, it is better but not waterproof I think. Does anyone know if theres a patch to get rid of the tyres in the mirrors, mybe that could help? Also, are these different rasterizers (?) V2 and so forth going to make any difference in your opinion? Very weird problem, never had it before in a year of online racing!
Try this: 3dfx files.zip
I'm using D3Dv2 and all is fine, except when chequered flag is waved. That results fps drop. But this is an overall problem for me on any track. Very frustrating at the finishes... :(
Setup: I lowered the wings to avoid the oversteering. I was always to early in the corners with the default settings.
Thanks Jani, will check tonight before the race if it does any good. And will experiment with the rasterizers. Problem is, I think fps is connected to how hot the pc is, so it is not always the same. How annoying!
Re setups, I think oversteer/understeers depends a lot more on the proportion between the F/R wings, than on overall downforce. Cheers guys, see you tonight.
46:43 for me now, well quite nice I think. Thanks Jani for your setups, they really help. The Brab is still the only car I can control (at least for half a lap, who would have thought it's so easy to crash in Hella) but I think this will be quite a nice race tonight. See you in the Austrian Alps tonight, jodelahiti!
I have found clear mirrors for the 69x mod and downloaded it, works fine.
Thanks a lot Anders, I do like to see the wheels, but I have the feeling they add up to the already heavyish graphics of the 69s. Also, you might get to see something behind without them! So, will take advantage and tweak the thing tonight before the race, see you later.
Sadly, I will miss this one... :-(

Clean race for me, no shift-R's... And what an amazing win for Anders!
I drove a Matra MS80.
Brabham 26a for me
Great race and curse you Magnus:P
Lotus 49B, finished race, didn't collide with any other car, only a small barrier, didn't disco, set exactly the same fastest lap time as Marco to 1/1000th of a sec and was only lapped once. Decent day at the office.
And I [cough] managed to [cough] beat Arjen [cough].
Have to rub it in... :D
Mclaren M7 for me Jani.
Really entertaining race, maybe even too much eventful for me! Had a good start, then spun at lap 2 right in front of Anders (sorry!), when I kept going again I realised my car was substantially bent, and I needed to reset. As soon as I touched the brakes, the thing spun at T2, and while I was sitting there half on the grass waiting to be able to finally reset, here comes Anders and runs into me again! Really sorry mate, you must have been relieved when you finally passed me and left me behind!
Maybe I owe an apology to Andrea as well, I dived on the inside at one of the lefthanders in sector 3 and he didnt realise I was there. I have been 2 abreast round there in the past, but this time it didnt work out, tough luck!
Made another mistake just after Anders passed me midway into the race, really annoyed by that since we could have ended the race in a three way battle with John. As things went, I reached John only at the last lap, and it wasnt enough to find a way through. Grats to Anders for a brilliant win, and to John for a clever second place! Thanks a lot for the racing, see you at the next one, think at Monza I will pick a car with a reasonable amount of gears...
Wow, what a race from my seat! I started third, and was really hoping for a podium finish. I inherited the lead on lap 3 when Atillo and Anders got together at the last turn. I was still in a tight race with Jani, he was all over me!
Sometime around Lap 4 Jani had a problem and I then had a lead of around 500 meters or 14 seconds. I thought this might just work out, but Anders was really fast! He was catching me at a second a lap. I was really hoping that my consistency would pay off, but he caught me with around 6 laps to go and he was very patient, but I knew it was only a matter of time. When Atillo caught me with 1 to go I was determined to not lose second. I did some major blocking, but Atillo did not push me out of the way, thanks Atillo for being a really class driver. It has been really fun racing with you guys! My work schedule has rotated around and I will miss the next three Thursdays, see you all on Nov. 17.
After the red flagged first practice session I did not put too much effort into qualifying, had only one “fast“ lap on race fuel. The first 4-5 laps were fantastic. I could easily stay in the slipstream of John, though did not have real chance to overtake him.
In lap 5 I put my wheel on the grass on the exit of that right hander at the start of sector 4. Which resulted a spin...
I was still 2nd and tried to recover, but all my efforts concluded in an engine failure. That let Anders and Attilio to pass me quite easily. And left me alone for the remaining part of the race. With 10 secs clean air ahead and behind I was on a mission for a new PB. My last 5-6 laps were okay, but the very last was screwed up in T1, so finally I walked in for another 4th place in the season.
I aimed to finish ahead those guys who finally finished ahead of me... So not a great result, but I'm still in love with the track and the x mod.
It was great to see Dan back in the Pits (at least). Congrats to Anders and podium, and all finishers!
Races at Zeltweg has always been great ones, this one was it too.
Attilio had a better start and was first into T1, no surprise, the McLaren is quicker off the line then the Brabham,
Followed him close and tried to figure out where to make a pass.
On the 3rd lap Attilio spun in the last turn and I was so close behind that I couldn’t avoid hitting him slightly. I end up facing the wrong way in the middle of track, waiting for the cars behind smashing into me. But no one does and I’m back on track, 5th place behind Andrea.
I’m close behind him into Dr. Tiroch Kurve when he slows down a lot and I have to go on the outside so I don’t rearend him. At that moment I see why, Attilio is standing still at the edge of the track. I hit him again.
Sorry, this one was on me.
Have to reset my Brabham and I’m back at 6th place more then twenty second behind the leader with twenty laps to go.
One second a lap, it will be difficult but not impossible. I have to push hard.
Pass Marco, Andrea and Jani in a couple of laps.
Now I’m behind Attilio and try to figure out where to pass, again.
We have a great fight, love it. On the 11th lap I got a good tow on the S/F straight and can overtake into T1.
Mid race John’s lead is down to ten seconds, Attilio is no longer on my tail, the plan is working.
With five laps to go I’m less then a second behind John and I could pass him a couple of laps later on the back straight.
Thank you Attilio and John for great fights for position and Congratulations to you both for the podium finishes.
No probs John, just a bit of mid road parking to defend position at the last few corners of a race is really fair enough in my book.
I was wondering why Jani didnt chose the Monza GT track for next one, with the banking. Are there issues for online racing on this one as there were for Monza 10K? Otherwise it would be really good to try it out, never raced online around the Monza Sopraelevatas, should be fun!
Server replay available.
Thank you Jani
