Anders Ostlund won Wiesbaden “Porsche Cup race” race of Festival Events | Jan 12, 2012
Starting from position 1 on the grid, Anders Ostlund's Porsche 910 crossed the line ahead of John Manvell's Porsche 910 to take the win. Bosse Froderberg rounded out the top three in a Porsche 910, while fastest race lap was set by Anders Ostlund also.
Please note it's a “Porsches only!“ race.
I used to have a GT race in Wiesbaden, and despite it's a city circuit it really fit the mod.
I'm not so enthousiastic as you... I prefer a longer road course for sportscars, or a rally course... something like Brno or Sachsenring. I think the track is too small for GT actually.
If we where driving the GT40 I would agree with you , but with the easy to handle Porsches it's no problem.
I agree that the Porsche is a good choice for this track...glad Jani didn't pick the Mk IV!!!

The good old fourth! :D
With zero laps practice I did not expect any better. Only by the end of the qual I started to feel the car. After a clean start and an over-cautious T1/T2 I was dropped behind, but T3 saw a car span around and I was fifth behind Marco. We had a few good laps together. By lap 5 I could pass him and built a healthy gap. A similar (or even bigger) gap was ahead of me. I had no real chance to catch the podium guys. But no two laps the same on this track so I was not bored.
Grats to the winner! Another hat-trick! Thanks to everyone for this fun race. It was great to see Mike back on the track and all drivers to finish the race. Now I can't wait for the Daytona 50 laps rush :)
John was quicker off the line and took the lead, but I was right on his tail.
On the third lap I got a good tow down the long straight and tried to take the inside in T1, found out to late that there was no gap there at all and I gave John a nudge in the back. Sorry.
He got a little wiggly and touched the wall but seemed unhurt.
I got airborne but somehow I ended on my wheels in the right direction with no severe damages to my car.
Bosse passed before I got going again.
Got a little bit to close to Bosse in the uphill brakezone a lap later and gave him a push so he slided into the fence, my fault, sorry.
Two laps later Bosse goes wide in one of the 90 degree turns, we go side by side thru the next 90 degree turn and on the following straight I can overtake.
Midrace I'm really close to John when we go thru the last turn, we are side by side at the bump and I'm past him when going thru T1.
Got a decent gap down to John in a couple of laps. Fun race, Porsches are nice to drive, had good fights with John and Bosse, and made a Hat-Trick :)

Qualy was ok, in my last lap I drove a pr.
My start was quite good, in the 3rd corner I was 4th already and Jani was behind me. I had some good fun with Jani, but he passed me. Sid and mike were way behind but I made some mistakes and they both passed me.
About 4 laps from the finish Mike crashed and I was in front again. Sid slowed down to let the leaders pass and I saw my change. I outbraked Sid and passed him right before the slow parts. Sid forgot the slow parts were there and I hit me from behind. Mike hit us too but he was the first to get away again, me 2nd and Sid 3rd. I don't like the track but this was a nice race!
I was really surprised that I qualified second. Then at start had a good one. I knew it was only a matter of time since Anders had qualified 1.5 second quicker. We had a little misunderstanding going into T1, sorry about that, I thought you didn't have enough speed to get inside me there. Mid race and Anders had made a really nice pass and was 500 meters in front of me. I then concentrated on making good laps. I came across Mike, Marco and Sid having an epic battle for 5th place. I tried to be patient and wait for easy pass, which each driver provided even though they were locked in a good fight. So, a surprising second for me. I am beginning to think that 2nd is my default position...lol!
Mananged todo some 4-5laps before the race. I strengthened all gears 2 notches and made backup setup.
Qually: started with default and managed a 145 which was much faster than my training. Tried the other setup and made a 144 horray I am ready ! :) Speedy Anders was 1.5 sec faster, not within reach.
Race: Start was safe, Anders and John took off. Lap3 I passed someone. Pribluda did not work so wasnt sure who it was. Apparently we had a touch in the beginning of the Monaco like parts but I never saw Anders in my mirrors so I thought I was battling with the walls :)
Later I had a bad exit and had to take inside to defend but Anders still beat me to turn entry and was third. The rest of the race I enjoyed the track and the Porsche, very nice combination. I was involved in at least 3 lapping incidents, I am afraid that I maybe was not enough catious, my apologizes to whom it may concern if that is the case. With no prib I have no clue yet who it was with. I will check the replay.
Grats Anders to hattrick and a furious speed, and to John for 2nd and a fast and steady pace.
Big thanks to Jani for this.
Long time no GPL but Sid pointed me here as I was still looking in GBGPL.
A bit strange in the GT's but had a fun race for a while with Sid. We then caught up with Marco and it became a two way with me watching from a distance. At some point Sid and Marco collided allow me to sneak by.
Good to be back and work commitments allowing will get to more events - looking forward to some open wheelers and the original 67's :)
I only installed the track minutes before qualifying, so there was no chance to work out a setup or learn the track.
This attention to detail was to bite me (and Marco and Mike) on the bum later in the race.
Brilliant fun racing with Mike over several laps where we traded places a couple off times. Then when we caught up with Marco there was more. Right up until my lack of track experience showed when I tried to come back at Marco. I could have sworn there was an extra straight bit where I could put the power down early and retake the position, but someone had inserted wiggly bits while I wasn't looking and the result was a Sid induced three way pile up. D'oh!
Anyway, great fun, good to see Ratters back, and I'll catch up with you again in four weeks time.
