Gabor Olah won Donington Park “Laurie Memorial Race” race of Festival Events | Jul 05, 2012
Starting from position 1 on the grid, Gabor Olah's Lotus 33 crossed the line ahead of Mark Barresi's Cooper T77 to take the win. Alex Barresi rounded out the top three in a Cooper T77, while fastest race lap was set by Gabor Olah also.
With this race we remember to the late Laurie Clemo/Ligel Canello.
There are several updates for the track. The bollards must be installed by everyone.
If you want to use my retro look graphics (here), install Gabo's post.3do file (here)
If you stick to default graphics or use other graphics, install Lou's bollard files (here)
I have a combination of gfx which has posts that are visible but without collision. Each time I add either of the post.3do updates I get a 'could not load track' error.
If I promise not to cut the corners can I race like that? ;)
I will check it in the evening.
Edit: I mean THIS evening. :D
I tried a clean install + Kenny's update + Lou's bollards and it worked. Which update do you have?
I have Kenny's 256 with 'Donington_60s_update.zip' over the top & then your retro over that too. When I say 'over the top, I guess I mean I let the updates overwrite when installed. Its been a while since I added these gfx but as you may notice I keep a record in each track of the curent status of the gfx etc.
I will have another go at it after working today.
Oops, I've never heard about that 60s update :S
Anyway, the bollards need a blank1.mip for graphics and a post.3do for the physics. Lou's update contains both, Gabo's update contains only the 3do for a softer bollard.
The server will let you join the race without these updates. But it would be better to have everyone the same track. And as bollards are visible on both version, they would be more realistic with physics.
I'm running late and may not be able to make it
Marco de Vries
I found out that the car crashes a bit when you forget to plug in your laptop's power cable so the battery drains.
Bugger bollards. Kept me from doing some better lap times. Sorry to all I hit, wasn't my plan. I had a good racing with Marco the first laps until he disconnected. Then it became hotlapping with some good first three sectors but hey those bollards again...they love me very much I guess because they kept on hugging me. And the last laps were just a disaster, behaved like a pinball, hit almost everything. Great track though. See you next week!
I'm not happy with my performance yesterday. I fiddled with setups but still could not have MY car. I hardly put together a decent lap on qualifying. And the same happened on the race. I made mistakes, did no real improvements to my qualy pace and finally lost two places...
I contrast I had a few side-by-side experience and great laps with Sid and Pedro. Thanks guys!
Grats to Gabor! Another commanding victory. It would be great to see you challenging Anders in other mods :)
Congrats to the Barresi brothers too on their podium finish!
And finally Roo who seems to back to speed! :)
In all I had a good, fun race. I spent almost the whole race battling with AndyL (just like old times!) & Alex (hope we have many more). We swapped places a few times & Alex won out as he didn't make any errors. Grats :)
I had a disappointing moment with Arjen whilst lapping him & ran out of laps to re-catch Alex.
I wouldn't say I was back up to speed Jani, simply that I have driven 65's at Donington before so I have a setup & some experience with the car. The same cannot be said for the F2's. I'm way off the 'paste' with those ;)
See you at Assen.
I was running late last night, so I was just happy to make it. No time to practice, so I just installed the track, used an East London setup and went for it.
Most of the race was spent dragging myself out of the grass until the last few laps when a banzai of Hondas swapped places umpteen times. Great fun.
Lets hope Laurie was up there somewhere watching.
Pedro van den Berg
Big fun, thanks for that!
I was not sure I could participate so i didnt practice.
Used the last setup I created and things turned out not bad.
!e part of the race the back of the car wanted to be on front every corner I made.
Later the car came to me and i could recover, and even pas Sid and Jani :)
Congratulations to Gabor, Mark and Alex.
Cu at Assen.
Real racers have problems at Donington too.
