Roberto Teso won Oulton Park “Zolee Memorial Race” race of Groundhog F2 season | Mar 07, 2013
Starting from position 2 on the grid, Roberto Teso's Brabham BT23 crossed the line ahead of Sid Manns's McLaren M4A to take the win. Magnus Rubensson rounded out the top three in a Lola T100 BMW, while fastest race lap was set by Mark Barresi.
No Lotus 48 for me.
No Brabham BT23 and Lola T100 FVA for Mark.
No Lotus 48 for Maarten.
This event is dedicated to Zolee Kiss.
There are not too many people here from the old GBGPL days. Zolee was a regular 65/69 driver in the league. He passed away in 2007. See his Whois page for reasons and reactions...
I'll try and make this one as its Zolees memorial
I also hope to make it for Zolee's memorial
Roberto, I see you set “oulton“ in your F2season.ini. Please note we will race on “oulton2“ version!
McLaren M4A, 1:34.701
Ah, ok, many thanks Jani!
McLaren M4A, 1:34.208
If all stars and planets are in the good constellation (and I have a great tow from someone), it might be a mid 33.
Lola BMW, 1.37,5...
Went back to the old D3D rasterizers and Pribluda version 0.97.
A little later: 1.36,8
Marco de Vries
No for me, I'm way too slow.
I can't say that all went well but it looked to be an interesting race. Unfortunately in lap 6 my screen started to flicker. I felt myself lucky to be able to retire to the pits and hold the gpl.exe running till the race lasted.
Yet again Mark's speed and performance was clearly the best. I was sorry to see him (and also Roo) disconnecting. What happened guys?
Congrats to Roberto! It is not bad from someone who hardly knows which corner is the next :D
Thanks all for coming!
I was enjoying the race despite mistakes as usual. Great track to throw cars around :)
I got a huge flicker (at Knickerbrook) & felt like collision detection kicked in & boom! ctd :(
Thanks to Jani for his prudence in returning to the pits otherwise it could have been a wash out.
I cannot access to server yesterday, both via Igor and via direct IP, while i can connect without problems in all other servers in Igor.
In my experience, this is a server side issue due to bad connection management in winzozz (GPL is ok): O.S. think there is an intrusion attempt, and put down client immediately (error 10054).
In past, i solved this issue with TCPoptimizer, a freeware software that can automatically adjust winzozz net parameters.
Mark have a freeze at 3 laps to go, but this was a track problem (oulton2 is in blacklist, as high risk circuit).
Patience, look forward at Assen, my preferred GPL track.
I saw Roo's warp in the mirror - that was one BIG warp, his car was suddenly rotating all over the place and then it disappeared. I think I had a screen flicker at the same time but stayed connected.
As mentioned by Alex, screen freeze on lap 19. Oulton2 is blacklisted with some mod.
Congratulations for the victory Roberto and great podium.
I checked the http://forum.gplracer.eu/topic.php?id=50 blacklist and found that 69mod had problems with the track only. Sorry guys, I was sure it would be okay.
A very lucky race for me this time. I don't know track and I had no way of test ten laps last sunday apart, so I started trying to figure out it on the run.
In race I was not able to keep contact with Mark except for first few laps, then coming down and ending on quicksand, I thought I'd sit quiet to avoid further errors, and so it was until race halfway, when I broke the engine.
I did shift-r trying not to disturb the other and losing a position, but since there were still 10 laps there was plenty of time to regain position, then at three laps to go Mark exit earned me first position and the victory that obviously I dedicate to Zolee.
I did not have any particular problems of wrap or other, I am very sorry for what happened to Mark and Alex.
Grats to those who have completed the race and thanks to Jani for his usual courtesy and hospitality.
