Mark Barresi won Rouen race of Groundhog 1967 season | Sep 26, 2013
Starting from position 1 on the grid, Mark Barresi's Cooper T81B crossed the line ahead of Johnny Ackerman's Brabham BT24 to take the win. Gabor Olah rounded out the top three in a Cooper T81B, while fastest race lap was set by Mark Barresi also.
- no BRM for me
- no Cooper for Lars
- no Eagle for James
I will drive a Brabham. Only a few laps were driven till date, and I don't expect any serious practice... That will compromise my pace I suppose... Still I would like to run something in the 57s.
honda here if i make it. likely to be minimal practice beforehand... could be interesting!
1:57,02 (My PB is 1:56,82.)
Did a 1:58.2 don't know what that will bring to the race but should be a very interesting race. Looking forward to it!!!
Will be using a ferrari
I have to work tonight so I can't race. But I hope to make the Silverstone race next week instead. Hope you all have a good race at Rouen.
I may have to skip this one. I managed to hit my hand with a one pound club hammer this afternoon, not once but twice. It's a bit bigger than it was before :(
I struggled with flu in the past few days so my only aim was to finish the race as classified, and --if all stars were lined up-- to set a new chassis pb.
Due to my family duties I had only limited time for the qualifying, but I was good enough for that new pb and 7th on the grid. James missed the green so I was up to 6th and at the end of the first lap it seemed to be a safe 6th ahead of Roo.
But in L2 all went wrong as the engine died when I turned onto the backstraight.. I had to reset and let Roo and James by. Just after the backstraight I had engine problems again, so came reset #2...
From that point my race was about setting a new PB, breaking into the 57s as I planned last week.
Finally I achieved that --and was eating up the gap to James very slowly-- but two laps later I could not stop in time at the hairpin, and slided into the tires... Reset. In the next lap I also had a moment and lost another 10 secs to James.
So I finished the race 8th but on lead lap at least.
Grats to Mark. It was a great comeback ;)
Thanks all for the race, see you all next week!

Mark, with Cooper 1:54,6?
The WR is 1,54,4...
I had limited time for practice, finally getting some seat time just before the race. I was pleased to go negative in the Honda so I tried to do the same in the Cooper. The Coop' felt great & I set my 2nd fastest time, faster than my Lotus time!
I opted for the Honda for the race hoping I could get into the 57's but that wasn't to be. I thought I had set a pretty decent laptime but it was only good enough for 8th on the grid.
I got off the line ok & followed Jani past James & then settled in for the long haul, trying to hang on to the guys ahead & run a clean race.
I managed a pretty clean race with only 2 driver errors. Michi passed me when I ran wide at turn 2 but then he had a spin at the hairpin so i regained my place & gained a comfortable lead to see out the remaining laps.
A great race for me but if I want to finish on the podium I think i will need to run the faster cars. Maybe at Silverstone as I have all green there otherwise it will be Honda/BRM.
Thanks again to Jani for hosting. See you at Silverstone :)
Umm... not the best race I have ever had. Had a good qualy, got the car into the high 1:57's which I had not done all week in training. Then it all went to waste. Got off the line horrible, putrid got past by 2 cars entering the first turn. However Jani had car trouble a couple of laps later which then I moved up a position. Then on lap 3 going down the hill following ROO, missed my braking point before the left hander leading to the hairpin, spun and hit the fence. Pretty much ruined my race. So the rest of the time was about surviving, trying to do consistent lap times. Did a half spin on a lap, then on the 2nd to last turn on the last lap spun the car. So not the best race in the world but still tons of fun racing with guys like you. Looking forward to next week. See you guys at Silverstone on Thursday!!!!
Could've been a better race for me.
It started out well enough. Gained a place round the outside of T1 and ran in 3rd? for a while until I overcooked it into the penultimate turn and had a lazy spin and a half. Lost me a couple of places putting me behind Roo.
I spend the rest of the race hunting him down and managed to put some pressure on him and he finally went off the road at T2. As my luck would have it approaching the hairpin on the same lap I spun off handing the place right back to him.
No time left to catch him again so I finished 6th. To make matters worse afterwards I found out I ran with fuel for 30 laps.
