Track: Targa Florio Mod: 1965 FPS: 60 Number of racers: 10
Pedro van den Berg won Targa Florio “One Lap Race” race of Festival Events | Jan 30, 2014
Starting from position 1 on the grid, Pedro van den Berg's Lotus 33 crossed the line ahead of Raoni Frizzo's Brabham BT11 to take the win. Roo Mellor rounded out the top three in a Lotus 33, while fastest race lap was set by Pedro van den Berg also.
We race on practice. We start with two minutes intervals. I will call you to start in join order. Those who join later (when everyone else is on track), can start immediately.
Pedro van den Berg
Looking foreward ti this one :)
I see quali is 25 min. just not enough for 1 lap.
Do we finish á lap ??? or just fiddling around abit?
25 is just a placeholder in the database. Practice will be set to 120 mins.
Though 25 mins would be just enough for 10-12 drivers to start their laps. Server waits for drivers on a fast lap which was started in time, so I'm quite sure it would not shut down anyone's lap.
But we will have 120mins qual, so all is safe :)
Apart from Pedro, who is obviously a Targa local, is anyone managing to actually learn this track? I've yet to do a clean lap. my best, with 1 spin & a few bashed walls, 38m20
I can't recall if I ever had a clean lap here. Probably not. I did 15-20 laps since its release - in various mods. In the hope of a sub 40m lap I will perfect my track knowledge this evening :D
Like Jani i've only done 20 laps myself through various mods. I'm just gonna give it my best shot. Learn more of the track today and just go for it tomorrow.
I wonder if anyone tried to drive this track with a co-driver :)
Pedro van den Berg
My cat is always on the co-drivers seat!
He has seen Targa so many times, he fals asleep after T1 ;)
glad its not just me then :)
I've probably done the same as you jani & james, only practiced/raced here with you guys (this will be 2nd time)so only 20 laps max.
Should be interesting tomorrow!
Sadly I had no time yesterday for any practice... Luckily I will start last today :D
I've only turned a wheel here in the GT's and the last time was over 3 years ago. I'm looking forward to a drive in the countryside tonight. I will pull over if anyone approaches from behind.
Well done Pedro, congrats buddy! :)
grats, amazing time!
Yes well done pedro, that was fun. Did good for the first 22 miles I believe then it just all went to crap in the last 20 miles or so, a couple of resets and spins. But still did my fastest time so it was not a lost cause. I look forward to trying this track again some time with you guys. Looking forward to the start of a new '67 season next week
A decent race with no major problems. I had two spins and bruised the fences here and there, but was no need of resets. I was happy to achieve my sub 40m aim. Pedro's setup (slightly tweaked to my liking) worked perfectly. Thanks buddy!
Congrats to the winner (and his co-driver cat!!), and all finishers.
Pedro van den Berg
Its no surprise I like this track.
When I noticed that Gabor and Raoni were also racing here I changed cars.
Wanting to finish 1e, so I took the Lotus instead of the Cooper ;)
Sorry Gabor you did'n Shift/r to compleet the last 3 corners of the in total 572.
Congratulations to all new PB's and Finishers!
Thanks for racing, I enjoyed it alot. (an so did the cat)
“the last 3 corners of the in total 572“
I'm becoming a big fan of Targa, its such a beautiful place to drive, but its insanely long!
Apart from a couple of meetings with walls I only made one mistake & it was a big one needing a reset, grrr! So in reality I scored a DNF!
But I set a pb, breaking 38mins & was happy with my overall performance :)
Grats to all who took the challenege!
Well I've got the excuse to end all excuses for my poor performance.
I had a pain in my back and shoulders during the race, which got worse afterwards. About three hours later I had a major heart attack, died for two minutes in the back of an ambulance and had to be shocked back to life again.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've had an operation, a short stay in hospital, and I'm more or less back to normal.
So Excuse Me!
Now that's a story Sid. I'm shocked. I'm not sure if I can give you any advice, but take everything easy, enjoy every moment, and spend as much time as you can with your family.
Wow sid. Take it easy and prayers to you and your family
Thanks for that. Luckily I was taken straight to a top cardiology hospital, a mere thirty minute drive from my home .....well, 30 in an ambulance with its blue lights and two tones going :)....and received top quality treatment. Otherwise you'd be having another memorial race!
Also, it tends to focus your mind on the important things in life......Mrs Sid still has a husband, the little Sids still have a dad, and the even littler Sids still have a granddad.
Get well soon!
Shocked to hear it as well Sid... Take good care of yourself and all the best to you and your family.
Jeepers Sid! Take it easy & get well soon.
Maybe Targa races should come with a health warning!!
Pedro van den Berg
Quote “Maybe Targa races should come with a health warning!!“ Lol Roo :)
What can I say Sid .................... I am glad you are stil around!!
Hope you wil recover fast and well!
Take it easy Sid.
Very glad you are ok Sid.
It certainly beats all the excuses about cats and wheels falling off desks.
Hope to see you on track again soon.
Late reply here - Glad you are still around Sid! I don't know if you are religious, if you are your deity must think you deserve it to be around a bit longer, just as you deserve if you let me choose. And if you are atheist, congratulations for beating us at evolution!. Live long and prosper...I hope your family manged to cope with it as well?

Damn...glad you're ok Sid!
