Track: Monza Mod: 1967 FPS: 60 Number of racers: 13
Iestyn Davies won Monza race of Groundhog 1967 season | Mar 13, 2014
Starting from position 2 on the grid, Iestyn Davies's Lotus 49 crossed the line ahead of Robert Fleurke's Eagle T1G to take the win. Andrew Livingston rounded out the top three in a Eagle T1G, while fastest race lap was set by Iestyn Davies also.
So according to the plan Eagle this time :)
Yesterday I had a really short test with the Honda. Three laps only and far away from my PB, but the car felt okay, so I expect a lap time around 29.0.
Did my first testing here with the Eagle. Started from scratch, so far 27.3 in quali trim...27.9 on racefuel...need to finetune setup and stay smooth...
Hopefully no FPS drops and screenfreezes, from which I seem to suffer now and then, at random. Will do a fresh OS install tomorrow (haven't done it yet!), because I suspect my system is being exploited, or some background program runs now and then...having a lot of virii lately...

Marco de Vries
Hey people! I will be slow but I think I will join again tomorrow! :)
Don't seem to be able to solve my random FPS drops. Terrible race for me, didn't enjoy it at all with the stuttering, and was way off my normal racepace thanks to that...in testing I ran 27.9-27.0 in racetrim...
Also didn't appreciate the lapped cars racing the leaders like that...
I'm about to quit racing again, just too much frustration...not worth the time and effort...
F***ing engine, again.
Backside of being the server player is that I can't change car when I see that everyone else in premium machine except me. And I can't quit GPL and start the Logitech Software... I struggled with FFB gremlins all event long. I assume it was the lack of the Logitech profiler running in the background...
Anyway I was out of office today, but had no chance to do some proper practice for the event, or at least to have a good rest before the race. So I was dead tired when the flag dropped and hoped I could finish the race on lead lap and without a reset.
Start was okay. There was a contact behind me in Lesmo 1 which opened a good gap, so I could concentrate to the guys ahead. The made no mistake and slowly disappeared in the distance.
Midrace I had an engine problem, had to stop right in the middle of the fastest part of the track. Lost a lot of time, and let Dean through.
I did not meet anyone else till the finish. P7 and 1 point. Not the best race but could have been worse.
Congrats to the winner and all finishers! Thanks for coming. See you next week.
Rob, I think you should stick with it. You have a lot to give to the community. Arjen has always been a moron - doesn't know where he is, who's who or what's going on around him. He chats like a teenager and “races“ like a teenager, but then he is...
My race was really nice. I couldn't keep Roo and Axel behind me early on, but they had trouble after a while. James was close behind me all the way, but never close enough to try a pass. It was quite intense.
Something odd is happening to me in this series - I've had a pb in qualy or race or both in all races so far. I must be doing something right.
Just saw the race go up in iGOR, and had to join! Took a Lotus, as I wasn't sure I could keep up with Rob, when I hadn't driven at Monza yet since returning to GPL. It gelled for me on the last Q lap, and I lined up 2nd on the grid.
In the race, Gabor was very impressive with his consistency - I couldn't attempt a pass, for the fear of braking on the inside into Parabolica, which was the only place I could get close enough to try. Gabor deserved the win but for his engine blow.
Rob - I thought you might have an issue, after being so fast in Q. Keep at it.. I came to race primarily to give you some good competition! We are struggling to get clear runs in UKGPL as well. Looks like the 3 of us here could have some good ding-dong battles in equal equipment.
Andrew - Always great to PB in a race, you must be improving with the competition!
Appreciate it Andy.
It's just the online stuttering (to me it's like my OS/connection is being exploited) taking away all the fun, and the frustration has built up last few months to the extent I'm about to quit...everytime I think I have fixed it, it returns...
Don't want to spoil the atmosphere here, you are a great bunch of guys at Ghog. When I'm down, I can be very negative...
Need to fix this prob, otherwise it doesn't make sense to continue racing. I'm not able to race close, can't run my offline times, and crash/spin due to it...all I want is to have fun and finish races, and where I finish is not that important, when I know I did my best and run consistently the pace I'm able to do...
Have patience with me, will not give up that easily. All I look for is consistent FPS, and then everything will be OK :)
PS: don't want to take anything away from you, Iestyn, you're a great guy and a great racer, good win. It's just my own frustration...
Lol Gabor. Cheers Rob - I can understand your frustration.. I had stutters at Zeltweg 71 and then even at Mosport the other day (that one surprised me), for a few laps alone at the back. Even in traffic after that it was fine. At Zeltweg I was a late entry and had details/objects too high, but at Mosport I didn't think it a heavy load track.
So, the first race in a lot of months
Did 1.33 two days ago so I thought this would be rubbish - turned out I was right.
Still managed to get 1,5 seconds off that time in qualy. Still no 1.30, but if I could keep that steady maybe...
Arrived 9 seconds before the start so without adjusting the fuel there we went! I noticed I sometimes disappeared off screen, strange... so in the Lesmo's I nearly avoided collision with the usual crash in the first lap, which strangely enough wasn't my fault this time. I thought I suddenly came out of stealth mode (aka appearing on screen again) ramming you, but it even wasn't the case today. The next laps saw a steady decline of the distance between Marco and me, with everyone already lapping me, who I tried to avoid as good as possible, hiring the outer corners as my territory and giving way on the inside, what was sometimes hard while cloaked as a Klingon battle cruiser. Marco eventually knocked me out of the Parabolica while I had just 3 liters of fuel left, so I wasn't even mad as this was the chance to reset and refuel. 9 laps later I crossed the line at last.
Bit of a disappointment to me. Usually Monza was the track where Marco and I are equally fast, today the lack of practise took it's toll.
I want to congratulate the podium and also the new guys who performed really well! I'm impressed!
I was undecided on which car to choose but when I saw lots of Eagles in igor I opted for Lotus despite having set a new pb in the Eagle during testing.
I couldn't match the V12 pace in the lotus but was happy with the pace & consistency until the engine went bang around mid-race. I lost position to Andrew & James & there was no chance of catching.
I also have some fps issues/stuttering in close proximity to & when closing in on others. I think I will try 2d wheels & helmets again as the 3d options are (relatively) fps hungry.
Grats to podium & jani for hosting. See you at the Glen.
And lasted for 13 laps. :)
And on (March) 13!
Bad luck Gabor, or maybe the engine temps got too high!? Being notorious on engine/gearbox myself, I ran conservative gearings for the race...
Anyway, have some real good news! My CPU went in safe mode running GPL, running way too hot, 65+C. I've monitored it. My cooler was so full of dust and smoke residue, just insane. I've cleaned up my system hardware internally, especially cooler, and now with max details my CPU ran max 50,5C!
A complete rebuilt of my system, and I think it runs as if it was new now, only have to buy some coolpasta and reinstall cooler to have even better cooling ;)
No wonder I had all this stuttering, when the temps got way too high! Pretty confident I have consistent FPS from now on, and no stuttering anymore! :)
PS: I consider 13 my lucky number :D
Hmmm - maybe I have to clean up too. In the winter I can leave my central heating off because the computer generates enough heat. Might explain some problems I have with it.
“maybe the engine temps got too high!? Being notorious on engine/gearbox myself, I ran conservative gearings for the race“
I'm glad ;)
I understand Gabor, sometimes the engine blows when you don't expect it at all, when running smooth and conservative...
I ran almost the same 5th gear as you, my other gearings were different ;) I think you used 3rd for Lesmo's, I used 2nd...
Hello Jani. I tried desperately to enter Monza but didn't have permission. I had the 60fps patch but not the 60fps patch for all cars. I've since installed this latest patch. Hopefully that's the only reason that caused my absence.....
Sadly I'm away for the Glen as I have the home field advantage. ;)
I use 60fps_v2 or 60fps_v2newmod for a few mods. Anyway it's something with v2. Do you have that one applied?
I use v2newmod for all ghog races.
Thanks guys. I'll use the V2newmod from now on. This one works for me offline but 60fpsv2 didn't work for me offline. I was able to join a 60fps server on vroc with v2newmod so I think I'm good to go.
I'll just delete v2 and see y'all a week from Thursday.
