Starting from position 2 on the grid, Yannick Verheijen's Brabham BT23 crossed the line ahead of Robert Fleurke's Ferrari 166 to take the win. James Marchyshyn rounded out the top three in a Matra MS7, while fastest race lap was set by Yannick Verheijen also.

Though its layout suggests it's another Mickey Mouse track (like Bugatti) I never felt it boring. Maybe the two banked corners and that long and wide runway help to clear the MM feeling :)
It's a nice track, we raced it last season with F2's in UKGPL. Will choose a slower F2 chassis, to have some close racing, hope I don't sound too cocky now :P
Pedro van den Berg
No not cocky Robert.........
But please take a slow car and fill the tank to the limit ;)
If I take the BT14 and fill it up you will lap me, Pedro :(
Pedro van den Berg
I have no problem with that :)
Being dead tired at 5pm is the best sign of a good race in the evening... So expect me on the podium :D
Can't wait to race been 3 weeks hope to be able to contend on this track and agree with Jani Mickey Mouse track
Pedro van den Berg
Screen Freeze in lap 14 just before S/F
Great race, thanks all :)
Cu next time.
disco from p3 with only 6 laps to go, bah humbug :(
First victory at Groundhog, feels great!
Sorry to Robert for the mistake at lap 11. Forgot my monitor always automatically goes into stand by when there is 15-20 minutes of no activity (and the steering wheel did not count), which caused me to spin. No idea how to fix it. Scrolled through menu but no idea.
Wasted the battle, and that was unfortunate.
With a few laps to go I noticed I was short on fuel, despite the game said 25 laps with 8(?) gallons. Stopped two laps before the at the hairpin for a quick Shift+R, and to the finish flag.
Was good to race behind the wheel again. Cu at Interlagos.
Sorry to hear guys :(
First half of the race was great, had a good fight with Jani, and then hunted down Yannick. Then things went south without my own fault.
Yannick, it was not the spin itself! Instead of choosing reverse or keep stationed, you chose 1st gear and wrecked me. That seriously pissed me off :X
But I guess, and hope it was a just a rookie mistake, but it seriously looked like you waited for me to wreck me. Don't do that EVER again! ;)
My car was bent, got very tight and couldn't do my laptimes anymore...
Congrats Yannick, you deserved the win based on your speed. Would never have been able to do low37, let alone high36. But please work on your behaviour on the track, because that was pretty bad, I'm sorry to say. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but only the future will show if you will learn from it...
Thanks for racing ;)
Yannick,go into control panel/power saving settings (or similar wording) & there you can change how long the screen will stay on for.
Roo, my monitor's menu does not appear to have such option or anything related to it.
Related to that, when I quickly tried to get the monitor to wake up again, I did not know where you were and thinking back I should've stayed put instead of making a rash move to 1st gear. It was unnecessary and restive. It never was my strength but I'll do my best preventing this to happen again.
Couldn't make the race today, but I have sympathy for the monitor problem. It was happening to me when I first drove GPL on Win7 - but doesn't now so there is definitely a fix (I think the one Roo mentioned - just keep monitor on the setting 'always on' and then turn it off manually if you are going away from the PC.
When I had a choppy frame rate at Atlas Kyalami earlier this year, it also looked very odd on the replay - almost like I waited for the leader at the esses and then crowded him off the road while being lapped!
What actually happened was sudden mini-freezes led to me trying to stay off line, let him approach on racing line and then overtake - but I misjudged the gas/distance without visuals and then thought I was best going straight on quickly and out of the way, onto the grass before he got by..
Doni was very gracious about it, but I inadvertently lost him a sure-fire win that day. That my oAo team-mate Greg then won the race didn't make it look much better either.
its a windows option ;)
Being off the pace of the cars behind yet on pole meant pressure from the off & Yannick applied it in buckets. I mistake at the end of lap 1 let him into the lead but I was able to keep in touch until a spin a few laps later. For that I must apologize to James & Pedro.
After that I tried to catch those ahead. Had some fun along the way until I disco'd.
Cheers Jani for the summer events. Look forward to the upcoming pre-war series.
Race graph tells it all - consistency over speed. At least MY consistency ruled over MY speed :D Anyway I had a good start and hoped a good race clinging onto faster drivers. But I failed - anyone caught me, passed me :D Still I had only a few mistakes and finally learned proper gears for corners :)
Congrats to the winner and all finishers! Sympathy with the disco kids.
+ I will examine the accidents in the evening.
Roo and James might hurried back onto the track but they did that in the best way - as parallel with the track as the track let them. Bad luck for Pedro that the two cars were at the opposite side of the track and each came back at the same time... + We are racing with no bwpatch only the classic 4+1 cars in view, and Pedro followed me quite close, which might have been a problem too.
I suppose Yannick wanted to clear from Robert's way as soon as he could. He may midjudged his position on the track and though Robert would have more space behind him or simply lacks the routine of such cases. Anyway we are a gentleman league, you should wait for the other after such an accident ;)
