Roo Mellor won Zeltweg Airfield 1967 “Semi-Reversed Grid race” race of Festival Events | Dec 04, 2014
Starting from position 3 on the grid, Roo Mellor's Lotus 48 crossed the line ahead of Jani Posta's Protos 16 to take the win. Iestyn Davies rounded out the top three in a McLaren M4A, while fastest race lap was set by Iestyn Davies also.
And again a Sergio Loro track. :) Zeltweg Airfield hosted the first Austrain Grand Prix in 1964 (Bandini's only victory), and we have two versions in GPL. Zelt67 is more fun in my opinion as it lacks those painful bumps.
SEMI-REVERSED GRID – If we would have a constant number of drivers it could be a simple reversed grid, but nowadays we see only 6-9 cars on the grid. So to avoid the problem of 12-14 empty slots on the top of the grid we use this semi-reversed method.
Grid position swappings for Semi-Reversed Grid Events:
1 -> 4, 2 -> 3, 3 -> 2, 4 -> 1
5 -> 8, 6 -> 7, 7 -> 6, 8 -> 5
9 -> 12, 10 -> 11, 11 -> 10, 12 -> 9
13 -> 16, 14 -> 15, 15 -> 14, 16 -> 13
17 -> 20, 18 -> 19, 19 -> 18, 20 -> 17

a fun track to drive & looks like it will provide an excellent race with the long straights :)
eh up, robert's back to full health, a 1m08 something, grumble, grumble, still in the 10's, grumble, grumble :D
Siffert and Hahne, Team Lola! I remember the bumps at 64 from an oAo race...
Uploaded M4A setup this afteroon, went even sub8 on low fuel, but will take T84 or even F166 ;)
Sorry Jani, didn't expect you to slow like that. Earlier also got caught out as the speed differences midcorner where so high.
After that lost focus and will to race...might skip a few events to get the fun and motivation back ;)
Bad luck this time, see you at Borovaya (i will miss next one).
Well, I managed sub-8 as well Rob :) Unlucky Alex, for the freeze when you were 1 lap ahead of me. Grats Roo! Winning streak continues, hehe.
I spun and was behind in the first race, so the 2 SnG's for 2 shift-rs replicated that somewhat (I forgot the shift-r rules).
Early on, I was so slow on the outside in the last corner, I almost chopped on Rob - maybe if I defended the inside line from Jani there, in the slick Protos, I might have had a chance to win.
Well, that and avoiding the crash taking place right in front of me.. instead I ended up beached on a haybale, spinning in sympathy. Oops!
Sorry for the contact Robert! I just could not take that turn from the inside line and with that speed. I was watching prib to see where you could be around me...
After the reset I dropped my tempo to wait for you in the back straight but from it pribluda it seemed you had more problems. So I decided to follow Roo and try to catch him.
That looked possible for a few laps. I was gaining good tenths on him, but then my small advantage vanished and the gap stabilized, then began to grow.
Then I had a problem in Turn 1 and I had to reset the car. From that point my aim was to stay ahead of Iestyn. According to the race graph it was not my merit.
Grats to the winner, thanks to all for coming.
Freeze problems mean that after the inaugural race Grounghog league leaves Zeltweg Airfield.
Doesn't feel like much of a win, it was Alex's all the way.
Pleased with overall pace & except for that one mistake that put me at the back, a clean consistent race.
Thought Jani could catch me so i pushed hard & was pleased to put in the times i did :)
Grats all :)
Grats Roo, feel sorry for Alex. No worries Jani, thought it was my fault...lost focus after that...
Prolly will skip Bathurst, just don't like CA71 mod so much and run out of time to practise. But who knows... ;)
Take care guys :)
