Iestyn Davies won Spa 1967 race of Groundhog F2 season | Jan 08, 2015
Starting from position 7 on the grid, Iestyn Davies's McLaren M4A crossed the line ahead of Axel Cookie's McLaren M4A to take the win. Alex Barresi rounded out the top three in a McLaren M4A, while fastest race lap was set by Robert Fleurke.
Present in this race (this track deserves), also if i'm in doubt for the rest of this champ (i dont like spec races).
I'll try and turn up if I can, but I'm very slow
Great news Sid!
Alex, can you contact Roberto for a wild card race? According to the Rank he is quite active (and fast) on the track in the F2 mod :)
Sorry Jani, i dont have his email (or other way to contact him).
As long you have fun Sid ;)
I can try to invite my old rival RT and the macho Mercaldo bros through PM if you like Jani.
Also could be more attendance maybe advertising at SRMZ for this race specifically as UKGPL and GPLRacer did with their funraces recently, they had full grids.
just had my first taste of spa67 :)
i like it a lot :D
wondering what gear ratios you's all using? i'm a couple clicks longer than default at the moment.
5th around 4.1 for me, it's a slipstream battle here.
I have one or two clicks longer fourth. I did not touch fifth as I recall.
Have yet to run F2 here, haven't touched the wheel for more than a week. But I suspect my 4th and 5th will be rather tall and prolly pumping up the tires as well for optimal straightline speed. Will do some testing later tonight.
What's your favourite section/turn on this new track? For me it's Stavelot. I always feared to approach the old one (and lost tenths to others), this one is much safer for me :)
Mostly depends from cars: with light F165 and F2, almost all turns are easy; with powered F167 or GT, need to have great accuracy in whole track.
My preferred part is ... cough ... Masta straight: no turns, beautiful landscape, fresh air on face and arm outside cockpit !
The Stavelot massacre !
Iestyn inside, i outside and Axel hooked at both, all at full throttle and with no intention to lift that pedal.
At least, only one survive, and win (congratulations, very well tactics); others suicides have their tombstone at Stavelot (R.I.P.).
Great misfortune Robert, you deserve better final position after your great recovery.
Thanks all for race, i hope all of you have fun as me (also if i think, as ever, that this slipstream effect is too exagerate, i prefere one in original game).
Race started fun until I blew up my engine before Masta, didn't realize it first, thought it was someone else. First time I blow an engine in F2, not revving nor temps.
After that was fun chasing back through the field and getting back to the leaders. Tow is prolly about 2s as I had to lift in my fast lap...
Then hit armco in Masta and had a very buggy crash through half the track. Can't even load replay in GPL. Not sure where I ended up but in my replay (watched finish after race) I was just behind Jani, which is weird as I didn't see Roo...
edit: I finished just behind Alex it seems after watching server-replay, but a DQ is maybe best as I cut the track by crashing :P
Ah well, at least the laptimes were good. Had a tall 4th/5th and balloon tires. Good race guys, well done Iestyn, Axel and Alex! :)

it was a pleasure to finally race you guys at spa :)
shame i wasn't quite up to the task.
my apologies to yannick, i was fighting to hold the car & avoid you & i saw a car go inside me. thinking it was you i turned in but you were still there, sorry :)
just as i caught the pack i blew the engine. also my first f2 engine to let go & i thought it was the other guys not mine !
had some good laps chasing jani & our last lap was ace :D
thanks again jani :)
look forward to many more events at this awesome track !
I analyzed replay, and i have to increase my delusion for slipstream effect in mods.
In first half of race, i and Axel overtook repeatedly; but, when Iestyn go in front, overtaking became impossible: his car exercised an incredible slipstream effect over second driver (also if at 150 mt), but not over third, that was unable to pass, also using tow.
Therefore, i decided to follow my brother: in future, i run this game only in his original configuration (that, despite his absurd physics, remain the best).
GLA, see you in next F1 1967 race.
– new record: success
– finish in top 5: failed
– no reset: failed
But I thoroughly enjoyed this race. I had a few laps alone, but most of the time I had some good company. First lap was hilarious - it was kind of a miracle that the first contact happened in the last corner only :D
In the last lap Roo caught me, but overtook too early and I could re-pass him till Blancimont and hold my position till the finish line. Good fun buddy! :)
Congrats to the winner and podium finishers! Thanks all for coming!
I do remember that I unticked the checkpoints option in iGOR, I don't know why GPL disqualified you :S I will check the replay in the evening and ammend the results accordingly.
5/5 rating and a decision to end your F2 career? Come on, it's fun! :)
I had understood that rating system is a track evaluation, my racing experience is another thing: i misunderstood ?
Sorry, but i'm bored from arcade games: rFactor is a desert in hystorical racing leagues, and i have also dismantled my steering wheel last year (unuseful, without a decent sim).
I need a pause, i return to challenge Jim Clark in offline races for a while, mantaining an eye on your league activities and a foot in events with original game.
Rating is about the overall feeling about the race. (For me it's from crashes with others by my fault spiced with multiple resets 1/5 to race long gentleman battles and maybe a podium finish or even a victory 5/5.)
Tracks can not be rated, but you can prefer certain track types at Garage/Preferences.
Anyway I accept your decision. After the GroundMOD Spa season a full 1967 is coming. See you in April :)
i don't know what's 'realistic' or not but i enjoy racing the cars enough to take 'em as they are & have fun, enjoy my racing.
i noticed a tow when i could barely see the car ahead down to masta & wondered whether it would really be the case at such a distance. But hey, as long as i am having fun racing, & remain alive despite my many accidents, i'm smiling :)
shame to see you go alex. see you at the 67's :)
Sorry to hear Alex, hope you stay racing with us. To me the tow effect in most mods is exaggerated, which means a lot of close racing at fast tracks, but it creates also artificial racing and laptimes. My quali time was representative for clean air (or training session).
Thanks Jani for crediting me with P4 :)
I never really liked rFactor so much. Played it a few times. It is like the mainstream music today: Everyone listens to it and there are better songs ;) (looking at GPL, hehe)
There is too much over there, so I get your point really.
Just saw that you are racing Spa67 with F2s, but was not prepared to take a Mac, so I just edited the ending of the only setup I had of a Protos to make a Mac...
Took some time for the tweaks as the gears and balance was very different, but at the end I had a good feeling.
For shure this race was mainly a battle with tow, but I cannot share the point of Alex.
When I was in tow of Iestyn you could not pass me because of my higher top speed resulting from a longer 5th gear ;-)
If you look at the torque line,of the FVA you will see I have more torque with lower revs...
I know the Sport Cars and 65s have way more tow.
The 69x was the first mod that reduced the tow and the F2 is later, the 67s have more tow!
Any way we had a great battle going on until the last entry of Burnenville when I was suddenly pushed into an endless spin. Luckily I had no hard impact and could finish the race 2nd.
Great track with great and fair racing from you guys!
I know towing very good from real live, as I was driving 2CV for 15 years and a VW Camping Bus, I was happy for every tow what made me go 20kph faster. :-D
Checked the replay. That was a really interesting crash in the last lap, Robert :D
I clocked a max of 25718km/h, almost Mach 21, and passed the leaders! They can see me at the left after Stavelot :D
