Had a very good quali, set a new PB, only Kruger was faster and I was a second faster than Sid the nearest Dfree. I felt I had a great chance for the win but I had some severe brain fade on the grid. I didnt see the flag drop and sat for a moment whilst everyone went past. I thought I'd ruined my chance already but somehow pulled it all back. By the end of the first lap I had passed Spiny and Will who had gone off and was right behind Pete. I followed Pete closely for the whole of lap 2 but couldnt find a way through till I got to the main straight where I passed him under braking for T1. Next were Sid and Adam a few seconds up the road, from here I pushed as hard as I could for every lap. I soon was right behind Sid who ran onto the grass allowing me through, then spent a lap following Adam before I sneaked past on the last corner. With 6 or so laps left I was now up to P2 with Rich a few seconds ahead, I started to think I may have a chance if I continue to push. With 3 laps to go I had caught him and had pulled out a 9 second gap over Adam so I had no worries behind me but couldnt find a way past Rich, my tires were finished and I was struggling for grip but with 2 laps to go I dived down the inside at T1 and took the lead. Later that lap Rich went off behind me leaving me clear to take it easy for the win. It was by far my best race and most impressive, it was hugely fun so thanks to everyone that raced!!! Grats to Rich and Pete on the podium, looking forward to Monza!
Well about mid-way through Lap 1, I couldn't resist the urge to try out my kids new metal detector, so I climbed up a smooth looking dune but didn't quite make it to the top and promptly fell back down, only to ruin Mr. Javelin's race. Very sorry Mike. Had I found any rare coins, I'd surely have shared them with ya.
Very proud to see the young guns James and Adam have such good runs. Very impressive stuff, especially after that start.
Pete was on fire as well.
No worries Rich, I'll be sportin either blue or green at Monza. Hope we can dice it up.
Grats to James on an excellent fight back!
Its hard to know exactly who you're dicing with at any one time! I had a second excellent start in a row and was catching the cars in front of me on the grid as if they were standing still, wait a minute one was standing still!! . I just managed to ease past, I clipped the slow car, but amazingly didn't get spun or cause any damage. After that I sat in third for a lap or so and was able to stay with the cars in front. One of those went off and I followed the leader for a few laps. I was thinking about how I might overtake when I put a wheel on the grass by the bridge and spun. Luckily the car stayed on the circuit or thereabouts and I got going again. Then a few laps later james came by me, he caught me so fast that I assumed he was a div1 guy and didn't fight him too hard! (wouldn't have mattered, he came past much quicker out of the last corner (must practice that bit more). I tried to push a bit more in the closing laps and came across a struggling lotus which was sliding everywhere. I thought it was James and we were dicing for the lead, maybe it was someone else?? My tires were in a bit better state and I could go a little faster, but inevitably I got too excited, lost my concentration and went for a dune surfing expedition. That was on the last lap, but it was a really enjoyable drive. I can't wait til the next race!!. I must try to complete a race without a spin.....
