On Tuesday I won my first race in the Hungarian Championship.
2 days later won my first race in D1. Very joyful.
About the race: I couldn't practice just about 8-10 laps. Even so came a PB on quali. I was 3rd on the grid, my start wasn't the best, but enough to took the lead. And after? This was a very-very long race. 27 laps and Ivan always in my bottom.
In Mexico I chased Kruger, that was fun. But being in front - more complicated.
My fastest lap in the race (1 tenth slower than Ivans) - it's totally unexpected. He pushed me so hard, I got an other PB. And the last lap? More closer than previously. After the race I just sat in my perspiration.
Thanks again mate, really-really great race!
Qualy was ok, race was not...
Grats on your win teamie!
great race with gyula, he totally deserved his win. but i didn't win only because of the 3 abreast start. how's that for an excuse
at start i was in the middle so i had to pussyfoot it until the ferraris around cleared a bit. gyula took advantage with clean start and won half the race there.
he immediately pulled 1sec clear, so i didnt have a chance to attack on the straight. by half race he had all of 2 secs advantage, but with 10 laps to go i began to move closer with backmarkers coming up and gyula getting more ragged. got right up his exhausts, but never on the important place, last turn.
and than on the penultimate lap, gyula wobbles thru penultimate turn and there comes my chance with his draft and some late braking i manage to squeeze myself on the inside line thru tarzan but gyula holds the outside all the way and gets out alongside, which becomes inside and wins with me spinning in his wake
and as gyula so nicely said~ After the race I just sat in my perspiration.
Well I don't think I've ever had such an dreadful race as that - qually just had no speed and the race was the inevitable mix of poor performance and too many mistakes.
I'm struggling to understand how the Brab can be my fastest car in Zandy?? But I'm sure it is - maybe I was just having a 'Bad driving day' but it handled like
Lapped twice -
Snetterton next and I'll do some praccy for that one for sure - see you there guys.
Zandvoort really isn't a favorite track of mine, it's so easy to make a mistake & so hard to remain consistent for an entire race.
I took my setup from Silverstone as it was so nice there & it worked pretty well here too. I set a new pb in testing but even though I came close to it in qualifying, I was P8 on the grid, the others were seriously fast
I was up to 5th at one point with Bosse behind giving me a hard time. I eventually made enough small errors to allow him a tow down the straight, he was past & I was glad of the release from pressure
I was keeping it on track & AndyA behind until I spun from Tunnel Oost to Panoramabocht & collected him We then had some great laps until he returned the favour, let me past & fell back.
I made a final error on the penultimate lap & needed to reset the car, which meant Andy past & I got lapped into the bargain. Not such a bad thing as I didn't have to do the final lap with full tanks & cold tyres
The car felt good, stable even, which made it fun to drive & those laps with Andy were classic
Grats to Gyula on his maiden win & Ivan & Dan for the podium slots
Wow, fast field placed me 6th in the grid, Denis did a marvellous 124ish in the Fez WD. Start was a thrill with all cars trying to gently squeeze through the slow turns at the stadium. whilst I had an investigation of the grass at T2 Roo could pass. Followed Roo for some laps with Dan in front of Roo. After last straight I managed to grab some tow and Roo gently gave me room to take inside for T1. Lucky for me Denis had some mistake and was almost 30s behind, otherwise he would easy had chased me down. So then it was time to try to catch in Dan. And Gd knows I tried and tried lol but I could not.
Dan my man Always where the heat instead of going for points we seldom see how darn fast you are mate. You held FL for 5 laps in the Brab, awesome pace and consistency in the Brab and I enjoyed the chase immensely every second for all 27 laps. Big thanks
Seemed to be great struggle in the front. Cant wait to watch the replay.
Gratulations to Gyula for his first but surely not last win in D1 and Ivan for FL+2nd and, Dan for 3rd.
First off,I can't reach my keyboard whem I'm driving.I couldn't write anything so thank for all your comments.I never had problems with this because I'm careful leaving pits, after the race I'm ok.
It was one of those laps in qualy where everything came together,my PB also.
I was pleased with this time and then race start.
Going in the first corner I shifted one gear too many so I was in first gear coming out on corners on cold tires and heavy car.I was all over the place controling corner exits and people passed.
Coming to the U turn, still not realizing I was in first,I spun it on the exit.
Trying to recover I went reverse and then first and I got caught by a flag pole
It just stoped me gently and then it budged and I was free.I was pissed
I didn't recover during the race, mistakes and one S+R were there.
Great drive upfront guys!
Still,Zandvort is a great rack...
