Axel Cookie won Spa 1967 “Night Fog L6 race” race of Spa Marathon season | Mar 26, 2015
Starting from position 1 on the grid, Axel Cookie's Chaparral Mk2F crossed the line ahead of Yannick Verheijen's Ferrari 330 P4 to take the win. Robert Fleurke rounded out the top three in a Porsche 910, while fastest race lap was set by Axel Cookie also.
Round 4 - GT race by night.
“Night Fog L6“ means you should either use GPLFog tool or edit your trackGT.ini file in notepad to get a night feel.
GPL Fog tool now contains Night preset. Choose Night then set Light/Dark slider to 600.
OR insert these lines into trackGT.ini
[ fog ]
type = 1 ; 0 means no fog
density = 6.0 ; from 0.1 to 9.9, higher value means thicker fog
fog_r = 0 ; red 0-255
fog_g = 0 ; green 0-255
fog_b = 0 ; blue 0-255
Like the weather patch I can't control this from server side, please be sure you made these changes before joining the server.
We will have a password for this event: “nightfog“.
I'd suggest you to try this “mod“ before race day.
I'll try to make this event, not even sure I can run GT here, as I can't run 69X at Spa67 (memory issues). Also this fog tool might load extra on my system...we'll see...

GT cars are beast's to handle IMHO,
and in the dark. ......
Hmmmm not sure I like this?
easy to get 'lost' in the dark :D
Fog seems not to raise the load, as it is just another color ;-)
But density = 6.0 is deadly IMO!
I bet nobody will reach Burnenville unhurt!
Tested it and found 5 still pretty dark but much more driveable...
Cars have no lights so you won't see cars following you!
No chance to get a braking point at 345kpH with MK4, or shall we all drive Porsches?
Pedro van den Berg
I tryed fog 5 to and made it unhurt to masta (no futher) ;)
Porsche race sounds good!
But its u to Jani.
I usually set density to 7.0 for night drives, so 6.0 is already a step backwards for me :D But I will check 5.0 this evening.
OK, tested it, GT and Fogtool. Did set slider to 500 (fog 5), had no probs with FPS or visibility...
So I'm in with the Stuttgarter Schweinchen :)
Well well.. I don't want a small field so you can choose 5 if you are lost with 6. But in my opinion that's just too near to a simple black horizon...
if Robert can lap 10+ seconds faster than me in a Porsche, I will have to try to tame the mkIV... if I can keep it on track I might keep up with him!
fog6 is fine for me ;)
edit: can you post your porsche setup, Robert? Cheers :)
Have uploaded my 910 setup, but will test with another Steve Cloyd WR setup for old spa. You can download his replays on the WR page, and Steve also often has his setup with the replay.
Urban (GPLRank) asked me not to zip replays, so that's why I only submit replays...
PS: Axel has the current 910 WR, grats!
So I made my monitor a little brighter :-D
I will use the L6 fog
but will drive the easiest car possible ;-)
Erhm... Plenty of resets again. This version of Spa is just against me :D I can easily deliver 7-8 resets per race...
Somehow I had a great qualy. Only one mistake, and finally a new PB. After that I took a really really safe start, I knew I had no chance against Axel so it's better to let him go. But fuel load tricked me and I failed to make the entrance of Burnenville. Reseted to last just to experience the same problem twice in the same lap... Finally I got the feel and the rhythm, so my lap 2-6 were fine. Well the end of lap 6 was a bit messy as I hit the fence on the right before La Source and from that point the car just did not want to turn left. In return right turns were just perfect. So I tried to take the car home in that condition, but I failed. After a few more resets here and there I felt I could even loose my well deserved fourth position. But Iestyn also had problems and I could hold P4.
Congrats to the winner!
Well done Robert, great pace in the Porsche!
Thanks all for coming.
Roo, please give me your finishing position compared to Iestyn.
In quali I had a good lap in clean air and decided to keep the higher tirepressure for the race, and that was my downfall (and maybe Iestyn's who seemed to have a lot of probs with my setup and advice as well, sry m8)...
First messed up Les Combes after the start and had to reset.
Later when Iestyn made a mistake in Eau Rouge, and when Yannick drove away again from me it was a lonely race, with no real clean laps.
Had not enough grip overall, and couldn't take Carriere flat as normal. Went off there 3 times. Also went off at Eau Rouge which was difficult with too high pressures.
Then pressed windows button, and kind of panicked (lol). After back in game did reset again and completed last lap...
Grats and well done Axel, hope you get all other WR for SCGT at this track. If you dont have replays of your current fast laps, I would wipe all times and drive again and save replays...
Well done Yannick for podium, good pace.
Thanks all for racing and cya in two weeks, have a good one next week with 69X ;)
i think i was about 1m20s behind, still on lead lap :D
probably my worst race ever. so many resets i lost count.
I've never been comfortable in the big GTs but was way off the pace in the Porsche. I tried your setup Robert, it felt really good, thanks.
the race was only a success as I managed to stay on the lead lap.
Grats all finishers, definitely a challenging event.
Hope for better luck and race for you Roo. Cheers.
I think I also setup GT's like formula cars. Try to set them up mostly as soft as possible, for my driving style.
